LATIN 211 and 212 RP
Medieval Ecclesiastical Latin
(3 sem. hrs. / course)

The course is an introduction to Latin grammar and the basic vocabulary of medieval ecclesiastical Latin. Reading exercises are based on Jerome’s Latin Vulgate. The one or two-semester program of study is designed to prepare the student for independent reading of medieval texts of moderate difficulty. NB: Not available every year.

Prerequisite for Latin 212: successful completion of Latin 211

Advanced Readings in Latin
(3 sem. hrs. / course)

This course illustrates advanced topics in Latin grammar by allowing the student to study and translate Latin texts of advanced difficulty. Some of the texts are chosen by the student in consultation with the instructor in order to become familiar with specialized study in a Latin author of choice.

Prerequisite for Latin 311: Latin 211, 212
